New Defibrillator Installed at Dereham Shopping Centre: Helping Our Community Respond in an Emergency
May 28th 2026

A new automated external defibrillator (AED) has been installed at Dereham Shopping Centre, providing fast, lifesaving support in the event of a cardiac emergency.
Having an AED nearby can significantly improve outcomes for someone in cardiac arrest, particularly in the vital minutes before an ambulance arrives.
Where to find it
- Location: On the wall by Starlings, facing the disabled parking bays
- Access: 24/7
- How to use it
- Call 999 immediately.
- The call handler will provide the access code for the cabinet.
- If trained, start CPR, or follow the call handler’s instructions.
- Follow the spoken instructions from the AED. The device will guide you step-by-step and will only deliver a shock if one is needed.
The defibrillator is registered on The Circuit — the national defibrillator network used by all 14 ambulance services across the UK. This system enables ambulance services to quickly locate the nearest available defibrillator when a 999 call is made in response to a cardiac arrest.
The installation reflects a growing nationwide effort to increase the availability of publicly accessible defibrillators in busy community spaces. By taking this proactive step, Dereham Shopping Centre is helping to create a safer environment for all visitors.
